Forty-five years after the The Beatles and The Rolling Stones first came to America, a collection of unpublished photos of the young bands is being displayed for the first time.
The Not Fade Away Gallery in New York City is displaying 50 of over 3,500 shots taken by Bob Bonis, their U.S. Tour manager, during their 1964, 1965 and 1966 U.S. tours. The show is called “The British Are Coming: The Beatles and The Rolling Stones 1964-66,” and runs from March 4 - April 14.
“The discovery of so many never-before-seen photographs of the two most influential bands in rock history, captured at the most pivotal time in their careers, is a once-in-a-lifetime event,” said Larry Marion, founder/director of Not Fade Away Gallery.
Bonis, who died in 1991, stored the photos with other tour memorabilia, and his sons brought them to Marion almost as an afterthought. In addition to the Beatles and Stones shots, he also took photos of Simon & Garfunkel, Cream, and Frank Sinatra, many of which will be displayed in subsequent shows at the gallery.
